AI Agents in Action

AI is everywhere right now, on panels, in articles, in boardrooms. But beyond the noise, one question keeps surfacing: how do we move from abstract ideas to intelligent workflows that actually make us work smarter?

That question came alive at the WIT by IBM Austria event series kick-off, where speakers including Gabriele Bolek-Fügl (founder of paiper.one), Annalisa Cadonna, and Kasia Sadowska came together with a community of curious, driven women to explore what it really means to put AI agents into action.

It wasn’t just another tech talk. On a summer evening when many were relaxing by the lake, this group chose to dive into the future of work. The room was filled with curiosity, laughter, and real connection. Annalisa captured it with a simple metaphor:

“AI is like ice cream. Everyone wants a taste, but you’ve got to find the right cone.”

The conversations reflected exactly that, not about flashy demos or hype, but about finding the “cone”: the right fit where AI agents can deliver true value.

From Ideas to Workflows

The focus was on practice and purpose. How do you get from a requirement to a functioning agent? How do you ensure security and compliance? How do agents integrate into real systems without creating extra complexity?

One concrete example stood out. An AI agent was set up to automatically prepare for customer meetings. Every morning at 8:00 a.m., it checked calendars, researched participants, and generated a briefing. A simple workflow, yet one that showed how agents can transform how teams start their day.

As one participant reflected:
“The process of agent implementation needs to be properly thought out. But if you do this work conscientiously, you will enjoy it afterwards.”

This spirit of learning, questioning, and experimenting defined the evening. It was less about theory and more about uncovering what it takes to make AI work, responsibly, securely, and with impact.

What Was Achieved

What this gathering achieved was more than just knowledge sharing. It built momentum. It brought together leaders and learners who asked the right questions and left with clearer answers. It showed that AI agents aren’t distant concepts but real tools, ready to shape workflows today.

Most importantly, it proved that progress happens when expertise meets community. Speakers sparked ideas, participants challenged assumptions, and together they mapped out what implementation looks like in practice.

Looking Ahead

The AI wave is moving fast, but the roadmap is still unwritten. That makes this the moment to experiment, to innovate, and to shape how agents will define the future of work.

The takeaway from this event is clear: AI agents are not about chasing efficiency for its own sake. They are about giving time back, enabling creativity, and strengthening collaboration.

The mission now is to keep building on these early wins, to continue turning ideas into intelligent workflows that make work not just faster, but smarter and more human.
